Music Camp in Tamparuli, Sabah.
Keningau,  Interior Division of Sabah
We were in Keningau, Sabah, East Malaysia. An angklung two-hours slot introduction and demo during Music Camp for teachers. They are music teachers from various primary and secondary schools throughout the Keningau area.

Lahad Datu Music Camp for teachers.

Lahad Datu, a settlement believed to have existed here in the 15th century. In the 19th century, once known to be  a notorious base for pirates and slave traders! The recent Filipino intrusion on 11 February 2013,  in the village of Tanduo had put Lahad Datu on the map of the world.  Thankfully  the tragic incident was left behind with much reflection and gratefulness.     Now  this town is progressively expanding par with other town in Sabah.

Tawau Music Course for teachers.

Tawau, formerly known as Tawao. It  is the third-largest town in Sabah, after Kota Kinabalu City and Sandakan. Located on the south-eastern coast of Borneo in Malaysia. Hometown of five famous footballer of Malaysia, and celebrities such as Amber Chia and Pete Teo.
A visit here is much welcome as one of the main attraction  here is the seafood, fresh and at very reasonable price. In conjunction with the Tawau Music Course for teachers, We were invited to give an Angklung Introduction and  a three-hours demo.
By the end of the day, they had gaiety played five contemporary song pieces with full music notation.  Well done teachers!

The primary school of  Kalanahan, Papar.  Papar is a town and a district located in the West Coast Division of the state of SabahEast Malaysia. It is 38 kilometres south of the state capital, Kota Kinabalu. If you should you be riding the North Borneo Railway, Papar is one of its main stop.
A visit to this humble school is very refreshing. The school community is very friendly and dedicated. The pupils are full with anticipation and eagerness to learn new things. As the motto "easy-to-play" angklung goes, less then ten minutes, the pupils were gayly shaking away  their angklung to meet every beat of the song scores provided!

What a very rewarding day indeed! Congratulation Cikgu Tahir! May your new angklung group will continue making good and quality music. Bravo..

Cikgu Delce with her students with special needs.
Tambunan, Sabah a town located in a  valley in the Interior Division of the state of Sabah, Malaysia. Tambunan is where one  experiences a mild tropical climate all year long. You will be overwhelm with wonders seeing the dense forests of bamboo around Tambunan. There  are a legacy of the British colonial period, during which an edict stated that 20 bamboo sprouts had to be planted for every bamboo cut.

Visiting Tambunan is always a pleasure as the climate is pleasing and the scenery is breathtaking. SMK Nambayan is one of the biggest  secondary school here in Tambunan. This school also cater for students with special needs. Our visit was to send a set of Angklung Pak Radja and to give a two-hours demo for these special teenagers.

Choosing angklung and adapting it as one the school's  co-curricular activities  is a right move. Owing to the teachers' love, dedication and creativity, angklung had magnified the sparks of interest among these special  students. They learned  to express  themselves wonderfully  through music. There is no bigger price to pay than to see these special young people joyfully playing their angklung in beautiful  harmony. Well done young musicians!
